Whenever a Lions club gets together, problems get smaller. And communities get better. That’s because we help where help is needed – in our own communities and around the world – with unmatched integrity and energy. Our members do whatever is needed to help their local communities. Everywhere we work, we make friends. With children who need eyeglasses, with seniors who don’t have enough to eat and with people we may never meet.
Each year, the La Vernia Lions club members undertake fundraising activities to support our many projects. All of the money raised is returned to the community in the form of scholarships for graduating high school seniors, food and monetary donations to the local food pantry, school supplies for needy students, monthly bingo at the local nursing home, vision and eyeglass support for the visually impaired, and sponsorships for area children so that they may attend, without charge, the Texas Lions Camp for children who have physical disabilities, hearing/vision impairments, cancer and Type 1 diabetes from the State of Texas, regardless of race, religion, or national origin.
You are welcome to join us anytime. You can accomplish much more when working together with others than alone. Here’s a short list of organizations and activities we help support:
